Kevin costner we see now - like Orson Welles - peaked at the beginning of his career - he has never mad e a movie this good, etiher as director or actor.
aNY time you see a ten-star movie - you've got wonder what drove the reivewer to grant a movie as perfect - there may be technical deficiences - maybe slight stoyryy implausibilities - but it's how much the movie moves you. And dance siwth wolves moves you.
in movie TROOPER HOOK, 1953, Barbara stanwyck is a "white squaw" discovered by cavalry and escorted back to her whitey husband. Almost same thing here with Stands With A fist. I sometimes lament the costner didn't hook up with an actual Native American - -that would have beena true inidication of his assimilation, instead - they give pair him up with a white woman who was "Captureed as a child" - oh, that old standby.
then it miught be up to the beholder - I can see it wouldn't move any racists - or bigots - or Republicans - but anyone who - - - this would be movieg. The relationship we find so sad is that between him and the native americas not be tween him and the girl
END SCENE: Wind In His Hair:crying out "do you see tha tI am your friend? I will always be your friend." Whereas at their first meeting, "I am Wind in His Hair Do you seethat I am not Afraid of you?" FIND EXACT QUOTES.
